Chris is from Washington, and started working at Goldsmith Veterinary Clinic in 1998. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, riding horses, skiing, and watching baseball. Chris has 3 horses, 2 cats, chickens, fish, and 1 dog. Her favorite part of working at Goldsmith are the clients. “They are so caring about their pets, and it’s fun to share our love of animals. I have made lifelong friends with clients because of our connection to animals.”
Marisa is from central Florida and moved to Denver in November 2019 to pursue veterinary medicine and further her experience in the field. She moved with her long-term boyfriend, Chris, and their two cats, Mr. Yeti and Dough Boy. Marisa has worked in veterinary clinics since 2017 for the purpose of gaining knowledge to help her achieve the goal of becoming a Veterinarian. Outside of work, Marisa enjoys music, travel, hiking, and art.
Kaileen was born and raised in Aurora, Colorado. She received her associates degree in Science with a focus in Biology from the Community College of Denver, and then her bachelor’s degree in Zoology from Colorado State University. Kaileen has always wanted to work with animals and is happily doing so now at Goldsmith. She lives with family for the time being along with her 4 dogs (2 papillons, a chihuahua, and a flat-coated retriever). In her free time, Kaileen loves to play dungeons and dragons and draw animals with pen and paper.
Erin moved to Denver in January 2020 with her husband, Keith, for his job with the US Navy. She grew up on a farm in Indiana with horses, cows, pigs, dogs, cats, and countless pygmy goats. Erin decided to pursue her love for health and fitness in college and spent the 3 years following as an elementary PE teacher and personal trainer. However, with the move to Colorado, she decided she wanted to go back to her roots of working with animals, which lead to her finding her new family and home at Goldsmith. In her free time, Erin enjoys being an online personal trainer, being outdoors with her husband, and being a mommy to her fur-baby, Jorge.
Jordyn grew up in southwest Missouri and recently moved to Colorado in June of 2020 with her boyfriend, Dakota. She attended Missouri State University where she was a cross country and track athlete. Jordyn graduated in May of 2020 with her Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science with a minor in Companion Animal Management. She hopes to pursue a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Colorado State University in the fall of 2021. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, running, and finding new coffee shops.
Katy recently moved to Colorado from Maryland where she grew up. There, she got her Associates degree in general studies and a certificate in veterinary assistance. In the next year or two she hopes to go back to school to get her Veterinary Tech certificate. She left her best (four legged) friend, Buddy the dog, back in Maryland with her family but brought her rabbit Dexter out to Denver with her. In her free time she loves to run, do yoga and explore her new favorite state!
Kayla moved to Colorado in 2019 after spending most of her life in Arkansas. Kayla recently graduated with her Bachelors of Science in Field Biology/Ecology and Wildlife Management from College of the Ozarks. She has always had a strong passion for working with animals. Kayla volunteered at her local veterinary clinic for 2 years before graduating high school. As an undergraduate, she spent most of her time on CofO campus working in residence halls and the animal science department. Kayla has a dog and cat, Clyde and Charlotte, as well as a dog (Maggie) who is currently a service animal for her grandmother. In her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities, coaching cross country running, and Jeeping with her husband.
Nicole grew up in Des Moines Iowa and received her Bachelors of Science in Biology with a focus on Animal Science from Iowa State University. Since then she has served with dozens of non-profits across 6 different states, including multiple zoos and animal shelters. Nicole moved to Denver with her silver Labrador, Indie, for the hiking, skiing, and live music.
Taylor grew up in Minnesota and moved to Colorado at the age of 21. He then started pet sitting consistently and decided to go to Vet Assistant school. He has 2 cats Keif and Blu and a newly adopted dog Louie. Taylor recently got engaged in May to his best friend Kayla.
Virginia was raised in the outskirts of New Orleans, Louisiana. After vacationing to Colorado Springs she knew she wanted to live in the colorful state of Colorado. Shortly after moving to Colorado Springs in 2014 she started school to become a Veterinary Technician. In December of 2016 she graduated with a degree in Animal Science and eventually moved to Denver in June of 2017. In July of 2017 she passed her Veterinary Technician National Exam and is now a Certified Veterinary Technician. In her free time, she enjoys snowboarding and hiking with her 11 year old Australian Shepard named Dolly.
Anastasia’s passion for animals began very early in life when she would help her grandmother on her farm in Belarus. She then moved with her family to Colorado, but her passion never ended. Anastasia graduated in 2014 from the Community College of Denver with her Associates Degree in Veterinary Technology. She is continuing her passion for veterinary medicine and is in school taking her prerequisites to get into Colorado State University’s Veterinary Program. When she doesn’t have her nose buried in her books, Anastasia loves going on hikes, paddle boarding, and visiting wineries with her pup, Sir Winston Furchill.
Jayne is originally from Holland, Michigan. She worked as an ophthalmology tech for many years, which spurred her desire to move into the veterinary service. She has a very diverse career history; she owned a wholesale greenhouse operation for twenty years, she was a director at a large church, she was a realtor, and she has been a music teacher to middle and high school students. Jayne is married to her husband of thirty-eight years and has three grown, married children as well as three granddaughters and one grandson. When she has spare time she enjoys skiing, golf and walking her dog Cooper.
Karen Sass was born and raised in the Denver area. Those few people in Denver she does not already know, she quickly becomes friends with. Karen was raised with animals, notably competing nationally with show jumping horses in her younger days. A mother of 4 grown children, Karen has indulged their love of animals with dogs, cats, chickens, birds and horses all calling her house home. Karen was Dr. Rea’s second full time employee when she joined the practice in 1999. We are so lucky to have Karen to head up our customer service team.
Liz graduated from Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology with an Associate Degree of Applied Science in 2005. She continued to pursue her education, graduating from The University of Colorado with a Bachelor of Science in 2012. She has worked as a Certified Veterinary Technician in both emergency and general practice since 2005. She lives in Wash Park with her husband Colin as well as a Golden Retriever, Sheltie, Chihuahua, and Siamese. In her free time she enjoys the outdoors, running, hiking, and snowboarding.
Dawn grew up working with large and small animals on a ranch in Nebraska. She got her medical degree from a Nebraska college and now lives with her husband, three kids, and multiple pets at home. She has a dog, two cats, guinea pig, and a turtle. She has been at Goldsmith Veterinary clinic since 2010.
Kristin is originally from South Dakota, and received her B.S. in zoology from South Dakota State University. She went on to become a certified Medical Technologist and spent a few years working in human hospitals in North Carolina and Denver before making the much-needed switch to veterinary medicine! In 1999, she joined the veterinary staff at the Denver Zoo as a Medical Technologist and Veterinary Technician. In 2015, she began working at Goldsmith, and can now enjoy her free time with her husband and her wonderful daughter, Taylor. She has 2 dogs, a kitten, and a salt-water fish tank.
Originally from Nebraska, Sue spent most of her adult life moving to different Air Force bases, including one in Europe, with her husband, two amazing children, and their pets. When they settled in Florida after retirement, her passion for animals was amplified when she got a job working in animal care at the Gulf Breeze Zoo in Florida. Since then, she has continued to work with animals as a vet tech in both Gulf Breeze and Navarre, FL. In December 2013 her husband’s job relocated them to beautiful Colorado. In her spare time Sue enjoys reading and spending time outdoors with her family and two dogs.
Natalie grew up in Grand Junction, CO and attended college at Colorado State University. Natalie graduated from CSU in 2013 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences. She has always had a strong passion for animals and knew she wanted to work with them from a young age. Natalie has volunteered at the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery, doing animal husbandry with a variety of taxa before moving to Denver. Natalie joined our team in 2016 and when she is not working Natalie also enjoys Jazzercise, riding her bike, and skiing.
Cari is a proud Colorado native and grew up in the area very near to Goldsmith Veterinary Clinic. In the early days, Cari’s work at Goldsmith was behind the scenes and after hours. Now that her three kids are grown, she works full-time at GVC as the office manager. In her free time, she enjoys traveling to see her children and extended family, gardening, playing and watching sports, and spending time with her animals. Her favorite part about working at Goldsmith is being a part of the community family that has been formed over the 23 years her husband has owned the clinic.
